Resumo: This paper is a case study of the village of Ferrel, Peniche Portugal, and aims to verify the effectiveness of the community-based tourism (CBT) model in the planning and development of tourism in Ferrel. Ethnographic research was carried out and the population was surveyed. As a result, the population identified local identity and cultural resources and revealed that the use of identity in tourism activities evokes their sense of belonging. This is therefore an element that facilitates community involvement and support in the process of planning and implementing tourism activities and satisfaction with local tourism.
