Resumo: This study approaches entrepreneurship in rural properties that work with tourism in two countries: Argentina and Brazil from a guiding guideline to carry out the research using the precepts found in the document Criteria of the Global Council on Sustainable Tourism, whose focus is directed towards tourism enterprises. In addition, it analyses the sustainable activities of the undertakings, adapted to the researched reality, arriving, in this study, at the following analysis dimensions: sustainable management; socioeconomic; cultural heritage; and environmental. Its main objective is to assess the sustainability of seven tourist resorts located in rural areas in Argentina and Brazil. Methodologically, the research is of a descriptive nature, which evaluated four enterprises in Argentina and three in Brazil. As a result, it was observed that the Argentinean resorts reached indexes above 70% in three indicators (Sustainable Management, Socioeconomic and Environmental), with the greatest weakness being the indicators in the Cultural Heritage dimension (only 37.5%). On the other hand, the ventures evaluated in Brazil reached over 70% of the indicators only in the Environmental Dimension. This situation shows that entrepreneurs in the surveyed areas, especially those in Brazil, can take many actions to effectively contribute to the promotion of sustainable regional development.
