Resumo: The aim of this research is to analyse the impact of the collaborative learning methodology on the learning styles of undergraduate students, first semester, of Livestock Sciences U.D.C.A., in order to optimise the teaching and learning process, based on the model of Honey and Alonso (1999). The parameters evaluated were the active, reflective, theoretical and pragmatic styles. The dominant learning style in men in the Animal Science programme was pragmatic and in women, theoretical; the least dominant style, in both men and women, was reflective. In relation to the implementation of the collaborative learning methodology, it was evident that in the active style, the moderate preference decreased significantly from the beginning to the end, with an increase in the high and very high levels. In the reflective style, a significant change was observed in relation to the very high preference, from no preference at the beginning to 8.6%; and something interesting in the low and very low preference, a significant reduction from the beginning to the end of the course. In the theoretical style, a significant difference is observed in the increase in high and very high preference, as well as a considerable decrease in low and very low preference. In the pragmatic style, the final results show a decrease in very high, high and moderate preferences and an increase in low and very low preferences. Based on the results of this study, it is concluded that the impact of the collaborative learning methodology on the learning styles of the students of the Faculty of Livestock Sciences of the U.D.C.A. is evident.
