Resumo: The objective of this article is to reflect/deepen from a theoretical perspective on the temporal dimension in the disciplinary field of tourism, called TEMA as it passes through four axes: time, space, motivations and activities, in three aspects: institutionalization, perception and appropriation. Constituting its main relevance to advance in the determination of the time axis, a key element that has not yet received the necessary attention. An essay that reflects, from the bibliographic review of different authors, mainly on the concepts of N. Elías from historical sociology. This analysis exposes the blurring of the borders between every day and non-everyday life nowadays, despite being the binary component to establish tourist practices
