Resumo: The tourist region “First steps of Cortés” promotes the attractions, history and places where Hernán Cortés arrived in 1519 to the then True Cross, this event is promoted as a tourist attraction by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture (SECTUR) Veracruz where through the geographical places occupied by the region, it raises awareness about the importance of the event that marked a before and after in the country. The aforementioned region contributes considerably to the economy, culture and social inclusion of state tourism that directly benefits the municipalities involved. In this sense, the objective of the present study is to know the historical and cultural perspectives that gave rise to the tourist region and that today strengthen it. To this end, this qualitative research is carried out through a documentary search to recognize what is related to the history, culture, and construction of the tourist identity of the “First Steps of Cortés” route. It is concluded and reflected that the mentioned tourist route strengthens the state tourism, gives it relevance in the national competition, and allows an economic and social development of the municipalities involved, with the reflection to continue building and perfecting this tourist route for the benefit and tourist collaboration of all.
