Tourism and creative industries: an exploratory study
El potencial del binomio de las industrias creativas y el turismo: un estudio exploratorio de la puesta en valor turística de las industrias del diseño, la música y el cine en las Ciudades Creativas de la UNESCO
Resumo: The expansion of destinations' tourism narrative based on the binary of tourism and creative industries is in line with the objectives of sustainability and competitiveness, allowing the development of strategies for the repositioning and redistribution of tourism. However, it entails a series of challenges, given the difficulty of highlighting a creative-cultural activity with its own dynamics. This article presents an exploratory study with the aim of identifying initiatives that strengthen the link between tourism and the creative industries. To this end, the UNESCO network of creative cities becomes this study’s framework, focusing on the design, music and film industries. A content analysis of the reports presented by the creative cities is developed in order to identify and categorise the actions carried out related to the tourism sector. The aim is to highlight good practices in order to redefine tourism activity in urban territories and broaden the notion of cultural tourism.
