Resumo: The theme under study is environmental sustainability as a competitive factor in hotels. The study contributes with a review of concepts with reference authors on the themes of sustainability in the hotel industry and competitive advantages as well as some studies and conclusions on the subject. The bibliometric study method is used with the collection of 996 articles on the Web of Science platform and analysed in Excel and Vozviewer. This study allowed us to identify and analyze the main articles published in the area of ??environmental sustainability practices as a factor of competitiveness in hotels and the construction of maps and tables where the main authors, co-authors and the relationship between them, as well as the most cited, the most relevant journals for the subject in question, temporal evolution and main relationships between the selected keywords. The main conclusions are the high number of articles in the last five years and a great concentration of the number of citations in only four journals, with predominance of the author Heesup Han, from Sejong University in Seoul, in number of publications and citations, being the article most cited in this research Application of the Theory of Planned Behavior to green hotel choice: Testing the effect of environmental friendly activities, 2010, in Tourism Management magazine, with co-authors Li-Tzang Hsu (Jane) and Chwen Sheu.
