Resumo: This article reports on the olfactory perceptions a group of young university students residing in the tourist destination Bahías de Huatulco (Oaxaca, Mexico). The students were surveyed regarding the smells in the neighbourhoods where they live, the most pleasant and most unpleasant smells in Huatulco, the smell of beaches and natural areas, the olfactory differences between high and low season, and, finally, the most and least desirable smells for the destination. The text concludes with a reflection on the ethical implications of the study and an explanation of the limitations of the research.
