Resumo: Ecotourism is nature-oriented, environmentally responsible, and appreciative of local culture and society. It promotes conservation and fosters active involvement by and economic benefits for the host community. The aim of this research is to assess ecotourism activities, services and sites in El Verde Camacho Sanctuary from an ecotourist perspective using a quantitative, cross-sectional methodology. A sample of 282 visitors was selected using non-probability convenience sampling, and the data for the study were collected between October and December 2022 using a 10-minute, self-filling survey divided into three sections, each containing a series of Likert-scale closed questions by category and range. The results show that the best-rated activities and services of the 7 assessed were the turtle release (perceived by 99% as excellent) and the environmental education workshop (perceived by 95% as excellent), both closely related to conservation of the protected area. Of the 5 sites assessed, the best rated was the beach (93% excellent), followed by the nesting sites (89% excellent). The research highlights the usefulness of tourism destination assessment in identifying areas of opportunity and improvement for decision-makers as part of a comprehensive tourism planning strategy.
