Resumo: The region occupied by the province of Cienfuegos since its discovery had an aura of mysticism due to its scenic beauty. His name identification varied over time. The Indians called her Jagua. The colonizers named it Fernandina de Jagua and later Cienfuegos. In all historical moments natural elements such as the sea, rivers and waterfalls; They have characterized the culture of the town, forming its own identity that distinguishes it: Cienfuegueridad. The objective of this research is to show how Cienfuegueridad is part of the identity of the town and its imbrication in the national fabric and its international projection. The use of historical, logical, dialectical, observation, scientific methods, among others, and the search in primary and secondary sources played a fundamental role given the few publications on the subject; allowed the investigation to be completed. The results shown are evidence of the Cienfuegos identity of which he feels proud. The approach to Cienfuegueridad as the identity of the town is an almost virgin field of research. It involves cultural resources linked to intangible heritage; resources demanded by cultural tourists.
