Resumo: The para-hotel services in the Tourist, Cultural and Historical District (D.T.C. e H.) of Santa Marta, represent a business in expansion and growth, since these, even when they are developed outside the law, are focused on the exploitation of a model business from an informal economy perspective, its success today is due to the use of digital platforms to offer its services. In this context, the present investigation describes the digital platforms used by the para-hotel services of the D. T. C. e H. de Santa Marta and its surroundings with the purpose of understanding the characteristics of the technological tools that promote the expansion of this business model. The methodological approach applied was quantitative, followed by a descriptive typology, as part of the analysis, descriptive statistics were applied, and the analysis of digital platforms from the publications that they register on the web. In conclusion, digital platforms substantially facilitate the development of parahotels in the analyzed locality, they focus on promoting lodging establishments from a logical and harmonious perspective, the most used for the development of parallel hotels are: Airbnb, Mercado Libre, Despegar.com, Booking.com, Hotels.com, Expedia and as a meta search engine Trivago.
