Resumo: Tourism is a feminized sector with gender gaps that promote women’s vulnerability. In this paper I analyze the emotions that women, who work in tourism, experience during empowerment processes. The aim is to propose a conceptual framework to advance the study of these practices that promote vulnerability in order to avoid them. To do so I first conducted a conceptual review that is then compared with diverse research findings. I highlight the need to consider aspects that interact with gender and the interactions of economic vulnerability with others. As implications I emphasize the relevance of emotions and the value of epistemic vulnerability and the possibility to vindicate it. Emotions and vulnerability appear as relevant theoretical approaches in order to avoid the (re)production of vulnerability in tourist organizations.
