Resumo: The “El Rocío” pilgrimage has been growing greatly in popularity over the last fifty years and has managed to attract pilgrims and tourists from many areas both inside and outside Spain. As a result, the “El Rocío” celebration transcends the purely religious, given that the size of the event and the reasons for joining in go beyond this. In this sense, there are different elements mixed up together (symbolic, economic, political, etc.) and for all of these there is a duality of aspects which conflict with each other and which are of interest and analysed in this article.
