Resumo: This article analyzes high mountain ecotourism such as the conservation strategy in the Los Nevados National Nature Reserve, based on a review of the principles proposed by conservation biology and the institutional ecotourism system interviews with three experts and field work. It is proposed that ecotourism as a conservation strategy is unclear and requires a number of adjustments such as: overcoming mass tourism and implementing strategies to make load capacities effective, the integration of elements such as changing surface water of the high mountain ecosystem and taking a closer look at the principles of biodiversity, evolution and ecological complexity proposed in conservation biology.
