Resumo: The talc makes an analysis of the evolutionary of tourism phases development in the destination, based on changes of the growth of demand. This approach causes that to deviate from its mission with the host community and its wellness. In order to explore the theoretical and methodological perspectives of talc based on the Butler’s model, and to find applied approaches in protected areas (pa), to the quality of life and social welfare in the host population, To made an analysis of the available publications in multidisciplinary
databases of isi Web of Knowledge and Google Scholar by subject, starting in 1980, year in that Butler’s published first research, was using the keywords: «Tourism life cycle» and «Tourism Area Life Cycle. Approximately six empirical studies in pa were identified with multidisciplinary approaches and analyzes. It was concluded significant that new proposals have been made to the model that also are adapted to the needs of each tourism area. It was also evident that there is a direct relationship between talc and quality of life and welfare of the host population, as well as a tendency towards the use of evolutionary economic geography to study the evolution of tourist areas
