Resumo: This descriptive research, which uses in depth interview, shows interactions between leadership styles and gender in 4 & 5 Star-hotels in Tijuana, Mexico. The results show recognition of female leadership, as well as interactions between gender stereotypes and transformational leadership as a consequence of care work. Women in managerial positions prefer a participative leadership style as a strategy to create alliances to avoid questions about their leadership capacity as well as work-life balance strategies.
