Resumo: During half a century that Spain exert the Protectorate in the north of Morocco (1912-1956), the public and private initiative tried to promote the establishment and development of tourism in this region with a double objective. On the one hand, to create a new source of riches and employment that contributed to the improvement of a society with deep signs of underdevelopment; in the other hand, to show to visitors the achievement reached by the called Spanish «civilizing action».
