Resumo: The urban image is an essential element for the cultural tourism addressed to cities. The literature has contributed to a large extent to the creation of some of these images being those provided by Romanticism among the most valuable ones. In this paper the landscape features of the romantic interpretation of Toledo are revised through the stories of travelers between 1830 and 1870. The use of these images is inserted in the current model of tourism and in the lack of authenticity of some of the proposals for the management of touristic activity.
