Resumo:       Cultural heritage is witness to considerable experimentation insofar as tourism is concerned. This does not mean, however, that what one would call traditional heritage (cathedrals, museums, urban landscape, civil and ecclesiastical buildings, streets...) has been exhausted, on the contrary. At present, this patrimony is serving to articulate an aggressive and dynamic contribution of new cultural heritage, on a symbolic and emblematic scale in museums, scenic and sport venues, new architecture in hotels, office blocks and congress and exhibition centres.       The close relationship betwwen tourism and cultural heritage has given rise to the configuration of a strong subsector within this industry, denominated Cultural Tourism, however the tourist industry as a whole is undergoing a profound and intense renovation process, both in its strict conception as well as in the management modes and means presently in use.       Seville, a city of tradicional importance as an urban destination, is also going through these renovation porcesses and is confronting the future, acknowledging its weaknesses and threats, but also its strengths and opportunities, and with the conviction of being capable of becoming the great tourist metropolis of Southern Europe.
