Resumo: Given the continuos increase in the competition among tourist destinations, it is necessary to study in greater depth the analysis of the explanatory factors of the competitiveness among themselves. In order to help to achieve this aim, there is a revision in this article of the theory of the international competitiveness of the tourist destinations with macroeconomic viewpoint based on the concept of comparative advantage. This will allow us to detect its virtues as well as its limitations at the time of analysing the current competition among destinies. On the other hand, there is also a bibliographic revision of the main reasons tht kead to the drawing up of a new theory of the competitiveness of the tourist destinations with strategic viewpoint based on the concept of competitive advantage.
