Resumo: Knowing the profile of the different target markets is vital in pursuing a model of sustainable development for territories, as well as to increase competition between them while recognizing that they compete to attract and retain residents, business and visitors, among other target markets. Exploring an ongoing research, this paper aims to focus on the profile and motivations of the visitors of the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina, a protected área in the south of Portugal, which may contribute as a starting point to the knowledge and to the development of future place marketing planning in this territory.
