Resumo: Modern techniques of spatial configuration analysis can bring an enormous benefit to urban tourism because they allow predicting the natural flow of human movement, based on the quantitative analysis of the particular shape of public space available in the urban network structure of streets, and from there redesign the accessibility of urban resources meant to be offered to visitors. The model underlines the relationship between urban environment, the cityscape, and human behaviour. In this study, one of the techniques for spatial configuration analysis, the syntactic model or Space Syntax, is briefly exposed, and how it was used to increase urban tourism, by helping in the design of an appropriate strategy to capture and lead the visitors, among those thousands who annually visit the castle, located in a peripheral and segregated area, to the centre of Silves.
