Resumo: This study aims to demonstrate the relationship between organizational environment and strategic behavior, through the perception of inn managers in the metropolitan area of Florianopolis, since the hotel industry is the fastest growing sector in Brazil, especially in Santa Catarina. The research was descriptive and quantitative. Data were collected through a survey, and since the population size was 122 inns, it was decided to realize a census. Inn managers perceive the simple-static environment for the variable ‘Embratur’ and analyze more often ‘political’ and ‘technology’ variables. Variables perceived with greater intensity are ‘legislation’ and ‘social’, while those perceived with less intensity are ‘Embratur’ and ‘suppliers’. The behavior adopted by inn managers was predominantly reactive. The control number of employees is positively associated to the analyst behavior. This comportment is adopted by companies that realize greater intensity of changes in the variables ‘technology’, ‘competitors’ and ‘suppliers’. Companies with defensive conduct strongly recognize the ‘policy’ variable and companies that perceive with greater intensity ‘Embratur’ variable adopt reactive behavior.
