Resumo: This article aims to identify the imaginary representations of Portugal and its nationals by Brazilian tourists. It is based on an assessment of public perceptions, using as base an empirical study conducted in Salvador, Brazil. From an analysis of literature in this area of expertise, supported by works in the fields of Cultural Tourism and Cultural Studies, Portugal was read as a tourist destination and a landscape of representations. And later, in a historical rescue, it is possible to identify the formation of these representations and how those meanings have been suffering, over the times, a process of renewal, upgrade or legitimacy.
