Resumo: The development of the nature based tourism and adventure reflects the evolution on motivations and behaviors of tourists with growing interest in nature and countryside activities. These tourists are thirsting for more active, challenging and emotional tourist practices, in contrast to urban life style. This article intends to analyze the importance of training technicians for tourist entertainment with specific skills for adventure and sport activities. Thus, canyoning was chosen as a case study as this is a particularly demanding sport, both concerning technical requirements and knowledge of the surrounding environment, given that it predominantly occurs in sensitive environments and involves several risks.
