Resumo: The transformations that have been occurring in rural areas have contributed significantly to setting a new rural reality. In this context, we highlight the pedagogical rural tourism, characterized as a set of activities within the rural property, which has emerged as an important teaching tool and enables farmers to add value to products and services. This study aims to analyze the economic and social functions of pedagogical rural tourism developed in rural properties in the Federal District, Brazil. Based on interviews with landowners, it was found that the pedagogical rural tourism is a complementary activity to the rural property, which contributes to the reduction of idleness in tourism establishments, also taking a leading role in the teaching-learning process of students.
