Resumo: The information on the tourism sector has become more and more important for its good performance. Information and Communication Technologies play an important role spreading out the tourism information, particularly the Internet, as a tool for promoting tourism businesses and destinations. This article focus on the issue of touristic information and the importance of TIC for its spreading and management but mainly aims to enphasize the importance of the destinations websites from the point of vue of their usability. We present some results from the study on the official portuguese tourism website available until 2004 - Portugal inSite,, analyzing its contents and quality of user interface, by using evaluation procedures of usability, taken from a specific library on the matter, same procedures used for an empiric study realized in March 2004. We also present an analysis of the contents from the actual official website of Portuguese tourism – “Visit Portugal” – referring to the errors detected on the previous version of the website and checking if they still occur on its actual version.
