Resumo: In the last decades and mainly in the first years of the 21st century, the economic system has undergone significant changes that have changed tourist trends and leisure as it was traditionally known. We understand that these events were influenced by globalization phenomenon, by the growing interest in environmental, social and cultural sustainability and, among others, by the emerging emotional society and experiences.In this regard, the visits to active companies emerge as an alternative tourist activity that suggests a broad potential for growth to respond to the tourist's cultural, experiential and creative tourism demand, and to the needs and objectives of the companies and local authorities, despite the lack of knowledge of this business opportunity. We aim to carry out this work to explain the subject, communicating its potentials, informing society, tourist authorities and companies on how they can enhance it by communicating the successful experiences developed in these places. The creation of collaborative programs between the business sector and those responsible for education (university and vocational) may designate training laboratories for work actions and new investigations.
