Resumo: Cultural tourism is one of the fastest growing segments of the tourism sector at present and therefore arouses investment interest, giving rise to numerous projects each day due to the cultural value associated to the potential of tourism. Given the growing demand for this segment, the aim of this study is to understand the process of tourism development of Brejo Paraibano through the use of cultural property in Caminhos do Frio - Rota Cultural Project, directed by the Programa de Regionalização do Turismo (PRT), which encourages and develops tourism projects from the cultural resources in Brazil. So this article is about the mentioned project, and the role of tourism in the development of the Brejo Paraibano region, from the guidelines of the PRT, now accepted by the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism as a development model, that strengthens the current theoretical position that indicates the regional development mold as a support and priority to new projects promoted by initiatives taking place in this sector.
