Resumo: This study is part of a research conducted in the Post-Graduate Program in Education, in the Federal University at Uberlândia-MG, guided by the historical background of tourism courses in Belo Horizonte-MG, from 1974-2012. TheDoctoral thesis is entitled Historical trajectory of tourism college courses in Belo Horizonte (1974-2012): Between the market determinism and the crisis on professional training. Thereafter, the present work aimed to analyze the emergence of tourism courses, pointing to attempts of adjustments on tourism professional training. As theoretical foundation, we have sought the literature concerning the research topic, and four existing university courses have been analyzed. Thus, the courses curricula have been analyzed, the training of teachers have been evaluated, the candidate per vacancy ratio and the evolution of the graduating students have been presented, and finally, the structures of learning laboratories for practical activities and actions through research and extension have been visited.
