Resumo: Given the development of the communication and information technologies and the increasing consumer demands it is necessary to find ways to provide pertinent, concise, attractive and up-to-date information to the visitor. The 3G mobile communications can be an important tool to provide this information and other services becoming of great utility for the tourism sector. This paper intends to analyse the 3G mobile communications as a mean to access information/touristic services, as well as to know the visitors touristic information needs, having as a basis a survey made to a significant sample of Portuguese leaving in Portugal and with email address, the obtained results allowed to conclude that almost all individuals would like a 3G mobile phone that permits access to information/touristic services, and the most required information for display in the 3G terminals is related with the geographical location, recommended itineraries and traffic information, these results are also of great interest for companies developing mobile services since they allow for a better knowledge of the consumer profiles and the development of adequate and pertinent services to the visitors.
