Resumo: This article aims to contribute for the performance improvement in the hotel industry by comparing the performance between decision units of a company, the Pestana Group. Taking into account the operational activities of the hotel units, the Data Analysis Envelopment (DEA) model was applied in order to evaluate the performance levels and its comparison done using the Malmquist Index. Considering the characteristics of the internal environment of these units, operational costs levels were used as inputs, and as outputs, revenues and occupancy rates with data from 2010 and 2001. The results show that the hotel units that have better performance was due to greater efficiency of resources used, and greater productivity near the frontier of production of tourism products and services, accommodation and food provided. Possibly, this increased productivity was related to the existence of a greater diversity of products or services provided, which attracted a greater tourist demand. Moreover, it was found that the scattering efficiency levels are higher in larger units, due to the inefficiency of its operational management.
