Resumo: This article discusses the mechanism of the psychological difficulties of students in solving problems in physics. This phenomenon is peculiar to students` state when solving problems in other subjects of natural sciences. New concepts of “mental operations”, “practical operations” as a psychological tool of the cognitive process are introduced. A specific technique is given for compiling the “Matrix of mental and practical operations” to overcome psychological difficulties in solving problems in physics.
