Resumo: The debate between gentrification and touristification is discussed. Both share a common origin but have different implications in the city. The methodology consists of a bibliographic review; first, we reflect on the transformation of cities. Subsequently, the concept of gentrification and touristification is discussed. Then, a comparative exercise between the two is carried out. Finally, it is discussed how the phenomena addressed produce the displacement of inhabitants, although they differ in that gentrification implies the arrival of higher-income residents, while touristification is characterized by the arrival of a floating population.
