Tourism intermediaries´ behavior towards sustainability: a literature review on its study using the theories of planned behavior
El comportamiento de los intermediarios turísticos ante la sostenibilidad: una revisión de la literatura sobre su estudio mediante las teorías del comportamiento planificado
Resumo: Although the analysis of the implementation of sustainability in the tourism sector has been recurrent in recent years, research relating corporate social responsibility to tourism intermediation are scarce, despite the recognized importance of this subsector for tourism. This paper seeks to deepen the studies carried out in this regard, highlighting the relevance in this context of behavioral theories, particularly those of planned behavior. Based on the review of these studies, a systematic review of the literature in high-impact journals was conducted with a quantitative analysis of various biometric measures and a qualitative analysis of the main themes related to the research. Although the findings are occasionally contradictory and there are research gaps, there seems to be a consensus in accepting that attitude, subjective norms and perceived control have a direct impact on its commitment to sustainability. Likewise, the literature mostly reflects that the motivations behind the responsible behavior of these tourism stakeholders are far from homogeneous, with diverse approaches such as the search for direct returns from responsible actions, the need to justify themselves to other stakeholders related to the company, or even the application of personal values in the management of the business.
