Resumo: In tourism, much of the research on the tourist experience has focused its emphasis on the economic nature since the proposal of Pine y Gilmore (2001), given the nature of this consumer product and the effective response to the needs of the tourist, ignoring fundamental actors, such as the territory and the host. After carrying out a descriptive, theoretical and documentary analysis of practices developed on the subject, along with field work with the owners of the Colonial and Republican Haciendas of Cauca, as well as the survey conducted with 144 visitors to the City of Popayán; The authors’ objective is to create a comprehensive methodological proposal for the design of the tourist experiences of the Colonial and Republican Haciendas of the Department of Cauca, in which it is linked to the territory, the tourist and the host. It was identified in the results that these experiences are generated thanks in part to the socio-territorial (tourist-destination) and socio-cultural (tourist-host) interactions. This is how tourism contributes not only from the economic perspective but also from the personal, social, and environmental aspects. Thusly, it generates respect, protection and appreciation of territories, traditions and societies, in each actor.
