Resumo: The practice of recreational activities in natural or little-transformed spaces since the 1990s, associated with the search for a better quality of life and physical and mental health, requires reducing their negative impacts. In this sense, methodologies for territorial analysis are being implemented. One of them is the study of carrying capacity, which is the maximum number of individuals that can visit, travel or stay in a site for a period of time without causing an unacceptable and irreversible alteration of the physical and/or social environment, and maintaining the quality of the experience. Considering this, the objective is to calculate the physical carrying capacity of a recreational trail in a mountainous area of Tandil (Argentina) that is attractive for the development of recreational activities. The results obtained may allow municipal authorities to think of management strategies to avoid negative effects produced by the saturation of the space.
