Resumo: The state of knowledge on the implementation of public tourism policies in Ibero-American countries between 2005 and 2020 is analyzed to identify elements that influence their result. To make this, a review of scientific articles on practical cases was carried out, it was done in four academic search base dates, and tried to identify the categories of government: leadership, coordination, administrative procedures, and negotiation capacity of the actors, since we consider that these elements, they are crucial to policy outcomes. The search allowed us to identify that there were better results when the participants formulated joint strategies and, mainly, when the community played a relevant role in public decisions. In contrast, they had worse results those cases in which political and economic interests prevailed, which led to the local community taking second place. It is concluded that the identified categories help to better understand the result of public tourism policies.
