Resumo: The aim of this article is to analyse the existing research on the construct of Tourism Experience (TE). The study consists of a systematic review of the literature based on bibliometric and content analysis. The corpus of articles for analysis was obtained from the Web of Science (WOS) database (Clarivate, 2022). An initial search of the database identified 286 results published between 1980 to 2022, of which 58 were selected for review and classified according to four dimensions: Economy, Psychology, Culture and Society, and the emerging field of Technology. The results reveal a range of different perspectives on the topic, including cognitive aspects, technological mediation of experience, TE design, and construction. However, the majority of articles were found to relate to economic issues, such as marketing and tourism consumption.
