Resumo: At the end of the 19th century in the Federal District of Mexico City, specifically in the Venustiano Carranza Delegation, the Federal Colony, among others, was founded. The construction of this Colony began in 1924 with a peculiar origin and a curious planimetry where the square and circle are combined, creating a radial and concentric grid forming an octagon similar to the proposals of the treatise writers of the European Italian Renaissance, who interpreted these geometric shapes as pure to establish the new urban layouts of the 15th and 16th centuries. Despite the passage of time and the transformations in the original layout and parcelary due to new social needs, Colonia Federal has not lost its original conception and any modification has opted to maintain its identity. The proximity to the celebration of its centenary makes it an interesting historical urban fabric of study for urban planners, architects, geographers and historians, making it a new and different tourist attraction that should be enhanced.
