Resumo: Since the nineties of the last century, there have been several institutions and / or organizations that have created lists of sustainability indicators applied to the tourism field. In the case of Heritage Cities, their application is extremely complicated given the complexity of these spaces and the dynamics that they have been experiencing in recent decades, with tourist activity being the solution and the problem of many of these cities. This article analyzes the evolution of tourism sustainability indicators and their application to heritage sites, as well as the problems raised in practice.
