Resumo: This work was developed based on a systemic and complex vision of the knowledge generated around the management and conservation of the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve (RBSG), in order to resize the public and private intervention carried out so far. The objective was to determine the base elements for a sustainable knowledge management that guarantees respect for the human rights of future generations in the RBSG.
Through a case study, at first the theoretical-practical knowledge generated by local institutions and organizations in the RBSG in the field of sustainable development was investigated through a search in specialized databases which allowed the research carried out up to moment in matters of sustainability and knowledge management in the RBSG. Subsequently, to contact key actors and learn about the sustainable practices and knowledge generated by them, a regional forum attended that brought together local actors from the reserve, from the public and private sectors. Finally, the legal regulations were analyzed and sustainability was described as a legal principle.
The results show that although the social actors contacted have theoretical and empirical knowledge regarding sustainability, there is no evidence on the management of scientific and empirical knowledge in the RBSG. Public and private organizations are encouraged to promote the socialization and systematization of the knowledge generated; function retrospectively and prospectively when addressing social problems, taking into consideration the guarantee of care and prevention of the human rights of future generations.
