The following paper proposes the creation of a touristic route around two heritage elements dedicated to the lives of Mary and Jesus: the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Porto d’Ave, located in Tai?de, and the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte, located in Braga. The latter is a World Heritage Site since 2019 and an obligatory visit spot for those who go to Braga. The former is a sanctuary mostly visited for religious reasons, so it is a touristic resource that needs to be promoted, being one of the objectives of this route to economically boost the community around it.
To create the route, a bibliographic search was made, as well as a field trip rehearsing the route. In that sense, it was perceptible its logistic and what contents to tell in a guided tour. This touristic route can be inserted in the field of religious tourism, with a theme linked to the lives of Mary and Jesus since the sanctuaries have chapels with the life of Mary and the Passion of Christ. Therefore, it is possible to create a narrative where we see how art was used to create an idyllic setting for reflection and prayer. Nowadays, both places are the appropriate scenarios to get to know the devotion of the region of Baixo Minho, where pilgrimages are still routed in the memory and culture of a people.
