Resumo: This study demonstrates the quality model that exists within Ecuador's protected areas by analyzing the need to adapt Deming's quality principles to improve administrative management.
Qualitative research, with experientialist methodology in order to have a general vision of the quality principles applied by each official who belongs to the board of directors of the Ecuadorian Park Rangers Association. The interview highlighted Deming's different principles used in the administration of each of the protected areas; considering that quality should be inherent in planning, execution, control, and action.
The following were detected: lack of updated documents, regulatory documents for each environment, universal instruments that govern the administration of protected areas in general, lack of assignment of responsibilities, leadership, and independent administrative structure, which demonstrates the importance of applying Deming's quality principles.
