Resumo: This paper discusses the state of knowledge on tourism and gender as an object of the study, with the purpose of characterizing the topics, the theoretical and methodological approaches of articles published in English and Spanish, as well as the evolution of research on this topic. For this, an integrative review of 80 studies related to this line of research was carried out. According to the results, studies on gender associated with situations and conditions of women in the tourism sector, for example, situations of gender equality and equity, as well as, precarization of working conditions. In addition, the papers show a greater tendency toward the use of qualitative methodologies. On the other hand, the work environment plays an important role as space where different manifestations are found, for example, of gender relations. Finally, in recent years the number of publications related to tourism and gender has increased, however, it is still a field that requires maturity in theoretical and empirical aspects
