Resumo: This study aimed to contextualize the tourism of meetings at the international, national and local levels to recognize the relevance of this tourism typology and the benefits that a destination can achieve by diversifying its offer, focusing its efforts on tourism of meetings. Based on this contextualization and given the lack of quantitative information in the destination under study, a qualitative research and SWOT analysis (strengths, opportunities, weaknesses and threats) of the city of Aguascalientes (Mexico) were carried out, which allowed to support the valuing this place as a suitable destination for tourism of meetings, with a broader picture of what it has done in relation to this type of tourism and identifying whether it has been considered as a strategy to strengthen the destination in the field of the tourism sector.
