Resumo: During decades researches have been interested in demonstrate the relation between photography and tourist image. Photography has been considered as the materialization of tourist image, this process in academic literature is known as hermeneutic circle of representation. Considering this background, this paper aims to demonstrate social media effects in hermeneutic circle of representation and define tourist role as a potential image formation agent using social networks such as Instagram. Results show the existence of the hermeneutical circle of reproduction through the relationship between the perceived tourist image of a destination and the photos taken by tourists.
