Resumo: The aim of this paper is to think over the role of public policies in the conformation of social capital as one of the factors that defines of a rural tourism development. The methodology is descriptive within the frame of a case study. For this purpose, we analized an associative experience of rural tourism whose conformation was driven by public policy. It is located in the northern part of Villarino, at the south of Buenos Aires province (Argentina). The promotion of this associative experience, allowed to stimulate some productive activities, to create new ventures linked to tourism and new modalities of rural tourism.
